Sante Spa Cuisine – An experience worth trying!

Sante Spa Cuisine

Sante Spa is one of a restaurant which serves spa cuisine. Spa food or in more common terms ‘Spa Cuisine’ is highly misunderstood sometimes. It has a bad reputation of being flavorless, unfulfilling and boring. The reality is that spa cuisine is quite delicious. And after having a great and filling meal at Sante Spa Cuisine I can definitely guarantee on that.

Very first time when I got invited for food tasting at Sante spa, I wasn’t in town and I missed it (:(). But this time again when I got invited, I was super excited to be part of bloggers table at Sante Spa Cuisine. (This was in my wishlist since long).

It is located at Sunderban besides Osho Ashram in Koregaon Park lane 1.

Whats best way to describe the Spa food at Sante Spa? –

Use of natural and quality ingredients
Use of seasonal produce (They have their own farm where they produce many of the vegetables and always use fresh produce)
Delicious taste and full of flavors
Nutritious and balanced food
Colorful food

Uniqueness which I observed especially at Sante Spa –

Comfortable seating area
Lot of trees around giving natural air conditioning
Cutlery used (ex Plates, quarter plates, knife, spoons, Serving platter plates and bowls all were specially hand crafted from Neem wood and glasses were of copper).
Imported ingredients from many regions in India.

Food which is processed and refined are minimized and instead, spa cuisine uses fresh and natural ingredients that are good for health and are whole in nature. They are concentrating more on providing variety and balance in many dishes which they serve here. They have tried to create recipes that use spices and ingredients that are a bit non-traditional. Plus, when it comes to desserts and indulgences, they have come up with many creative ways to satisfy your sweet tooth without causing major impact to your waistline or sacrificing taste. (This is a much needed thing now a days). Meals served here are very colorful which are more aesthetically appealing also which are satisfying the need of being appetizing.

At Sante Spa they believe – One can experience Spa Cuisine created using the freshest wholesome, natural and organic and healthy ingredients, with knowledge of combining the most simplistic yet flavorful manner to satiate one’s cravings.

So for me the specially crafted menu had –

Handcrafted Breads –
The Activated charcoal basket
Flavored butters along with the regular bread basket

Farmfresh Salads –
Spaghetti of vegetables
Mediterranean quinoa

Appetizing Morsels –
Southern spiced cottage cheese saute, watermelon chutney
Beetroot and spinach hummus

Rustic Bakes –
Pizza verde
Pizza farm fresh

Substantial Nourishments-
Bajra riso
Thai curried vegetables

Wholesome Smoothie –
Oats and fig smoothie

Guiltfree Desserts –
Salted caramel mud cake
Charcoal Icecream

Flavored butter were garlic foam, tomato and chilly foam, mushroom and soy foam and countryside chia seeds butter. All these butters were made in house and were a perfect spread on the breads which were served in assorted basket. The assorted basket contained oats roll, multigrain ciabatta, grissini, multigrain lavache, bran baps. Very fresh and perfectly baked bread. Activated charcoal hummus is the new addition in the menu and it was looking beautiful. And the good point was it did not had grainy texture what I thought of, instead it was creamy and smooth and was going really well on palate.
Beetroot and spinach hummus is everybody’s favorite. It looked beautiful like really, a vibrant red and green colored hummus scoops topped with extra virgin olive oil and air fried chana, served along with whole wheat khakra chips (very thin and crisp). Please note this is all vegan!

Southern spiced cottage cheese was basically soft cottage cheese slices tossed in gunpowder and mustard seeds, topped with spring onion and served along with sweet and spicy watermelon chutney which was very tasty. (South Indian touch dish)

Spaghetti of vegetables and Mediterranean quinoa both the salad were amazing. They were colorful, vibrant and had mixed texture. Spaghetti of vegetables actually did not had any spaghetti but the spaghetti was actually vegetable jullians and it was mixed in pickled mango vinaigrette and topped with crushed crispy whole wheat khakra. If I have to pick one salad from both then Mediterranean quinoa was something of my taste.  A rich salad with danish feta, crushed cranberries, thin sliced apples, walnuts, quinoa and oranges.

Pizza and healthy? Like really ? – YES. Sante Spa serves amazingly tasty and healthy versions of pizzas. Pizza verde is for pesto lovers and farm fresh is for veggie lovers. Both the pizzas had ragi and whole wheat crust (crust was very very thin and crispy, absolutely fantastic). Verde was topped with lot of capers, spinach, fenugreek leaves, argula basil pesto, no fat cheese, broccoli, fine dices of zucchini. On the other hand the farm fresh was loaded with colorful bell pepper dices, sundried tomatoes, jalapenos and olives.

“Bajra” riso was risotto in bajra version. A gluten free risotto which was very appetizing and cooked beautifully (al dante). Kerala imported brown rice was a perfect pairing with creamy vegetable Thai curry.

I would like to highly recommend the Oats and fig smoothie. It was spot on flavors, sweetness (natural sweetness plus the honey). It had dates too which added that extra sweetness and lot of almonds and oats for that crunchiness factor.

From desserts I liked the activated charcoal ice cream. It had sour, sweet and salty flavor. And texture was like sorbet. And Salted caramel mud cake was guilt free and nice.

I am going again to this place to try their other offerings. I loved the place, ambience, service and most importantly the comfort food.

Final verdict –
