A nice and cozy place situated at Koregaon Park, lane 6. Owned by beautiful Priya and Dheeraj Mahatani. Both if them are very passionate about food. After spending many years in Singapore they are here in Pune and serving some authentic Asian food at Asian Box. As we were told by Priya that many of the sauces and curry powders which they use in their food are imported from Singapore itself.
They have outdoor seating and a small indoor table as well from which we opted to get settled inside. Beautiful black and red plates arranged on a wooden table and we were eagerly waiting for food to arrive.
At first they served a icey mocktail. (Don’t remeber name exactly) It was refreshing and prominent cinnamon flavor was coming out.
We started with some delicious starters first.
Shiitake tofu dim sum – Served in wooden steamer baskets. Crumbled tofu, scallions, sesame oil, shiitake mushroom, wilted cabbage, soy sauce and pepper mixed together and those tasty dim sums were made. I loved them. Also 3 dips were given from which one was sweet n spicy chilly dip, spicy chilies dip and a dark soy chili dip. These dips were accompanying dim sums nicely.
Vietnamese rolls – Soft and sticky and filled with ample vegetable filling. These were going well with dips and simply you can pop them up in mouth just like that. You will love it!
Galangal lemongrass spring onion steamed fish- Galangal is term for Thai ginger. The hero ingredient was fish in this dish and they used Singhara fish. Ahh not so good looking fish turned into beautiful and delicious dish 🙂 The steamed fish was having its original soft and little grainy texture and this was sautéed in galangal lemongrass sauce and topped with spring onion.
Thai chilli basil grilled fish – The same Singhara fish was used in this dish also only the taste and sauce was different. Soft fish grilled and sautéed in thai chilli basil sauce. It was medium spicy.
Korean chicken rice bowl – In a bowl lettuces and plain rice topped with sweet and tangy chicken threads and black sesame. Chicken was really good only thing which I felt was the rice would have some flavor in it or simply use of butter rice then this must become a stand out dish altogether:)
Pineapple rice – Scooped pineapple filled with flavourful rice fried cashews and peanuts, chicken chunks and small pineapple cubes served hot. Taste was amazing. I loved this rice. This one is highly recommended:)
Singapore chilli prawns- Thin gravy based Prawns curry. Sweet and spicy in taste. It was lovely so delicious:) Nice catch of Prawns, they were fresh and juicy.
